Mayors Weekend Art Class
The Sutton community joined the Balogun Bassey CIC for a free one-day Paint & Taste community celebration on Saturday, 13th September 2025 in The Riverside Centre, 113 Culvers Ave, Carshalton SM5 2FJ . The event is designed to bring people of all ages together through creativity, storytelling, and cultural sharing.
The session included:

Youth volunteers supporting with hosting, painting activities, and refreshments

All art materials, food, and drinks provided free of charge

Artwork created on the day will be displayed in a local space after the event

1. Who can attend the event?
This event is open to everyone in the community! Children, young people, adults, and seniors. We encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to join in the fun!

Yes! Thanks to support from the Mayor’s Community Weekend fund, everything is completely free including food, art materials, and entertainment.

Participants will take part in a guided painting session exploring the themes of heritage, home, and unity, followed by a cultural food-tasting experience and live storytelling.
Yes. A variety of cultural dishes and snacks will be served. These are prepared by caterers and will be clearly labelled for allergies or dietary needs.
6. Will there be supervision or volunteers on-site?
Yes, youth volunteers and adult facilitators will be on hand to support activities, manage materials, and serve refreshments.
